KARHU RUNNING SHOES DECONSTRUCTED

Liam Gildea is a 20-year-old artist from Marblehead, MA and a current third year student at The Savannah College of Art and Design. In order to explore the construct of shoe design and the complex details of a running shoe, he ordered individualized components of the Karhu Fusion and Synchron. The resulting still lifes show an exploded view of the shoes and how each part comes together to create a running shoe.

ULTIMATE DESIGN

The pieces of upper mesh, insole, fulcrum, propulsion unit, midsole, and lace eventually are assembled together to create the shoes in Karhu collection. As individual units they might not seem that important or impressive, but each plays an integral role in the ultimate design of the shoe.
